Fitting a new or replacement EPDM rubber roof could not be simpler. First, we strip the roof down to the joists, replacing any beams that might have been weakened or damaged. Once we’ve done that, we lay down OSB boards to form a level and sturdy roof deck on which to apply the rubber roofing.
EPDM rubber roofing comes as a sheet material. We apply a specially-formulated adhesive to the deck and to one side of the sheeting and carefully flatten it out across the whole of the roof. This removes any air pockets and forms a waterproof seal across the deck. Once the rubber is laid and the adhesive has dried, we trim and seal the roof edges, as well as any skylights, vents, and other protrusions.

EPDM rubber is durable stuff and, best of all, requires virtually zero maintenance. We recommend that you give it a brief inspection every year, along with your gutters and roofline, but EPDM rubber is designed to last. The most common type of damage is a tear in the material, usually the result of severe storm damage or a deliberate act.
Such damage is easy enough to repair – all we need to do is cut out a section of rubber roofing around the affected area and replace it with a new piece of rubber, cut-to-measure to fill in the gap. Of course, we also inspect the roof deck beneath the damage, to ensure it hasn’t been weakened by water ingress.
